Ancient Civilization in India
Ancient Indian History can be traced back to around 2500 B.C. during Indus Valley Civilization when people started settling in the sites of Mohenjo-Daro, Harappa and Lothal. These sites are prominent in historical pages as they have given birth to some of the civilizations and cultures. Indus Valley civilization is marked with enduring agricultural trade and commerce that were the basis of whole new settlement. But this civilization saw its downfall around 1500 B.C. The commencement of second millennium was marked with Aryan's coming to Ganges river valley from northwest. These two eras of Indus Valley civilization are categorized as Pre-Vedic and Vedic periods. Vedic era boosted and propagated Hinduism to it best during these times.
Various Dynasties of India
Indian history has seen rise and fall of many dynasties. During the reign of Gupta Dynasty Hinduism flourished and saw its peak. During 4th and 5th centuries, there were many fluctuating dynasties that had their own limitations and thereby giving rise to the ancient map of India. A large number of territories were annexed to the Ashoka dynasty. Ashoka later adopted Buddhism and propagated it throughout. Even his children were sent on promotion of Buddhism. 8th century brought Islam in India and gradually it was spread all over the country. Most of the northern India was taken under by Mughals hence spreading of Islam all over India.
Modern History of India
Modern Indian History is also full of events of prominence that shaped India's history. After arrival o Mughals, the British came to India in 17th century as trading company. Gradually the company started spreading its dominance by establishing full control over the commercial hubs of then India. The strategic locations like Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Surat were their trading centers of East India Company through which they colonized Indian territories. After many upheavals India gained independence from British raj on 15th August 1947.
Today what India is surely is because of its past. Once the 'Golden bird', India, is now gaining prominence across the world in terms of technology, infrastructure, travel and tourism.
